Consultant - Land, New Business and Programme manager
Craig has been involved in the development of Rentplus since 2011, through his role as Property Investor and Developer at Pillar Land Securities. He graduated the same year from the University of Portsmouth with a BSc (Hons) Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) accredited degree in Property Development.
Involved in all aspects of Rentplus projects, from viability and planning through to delivery and marketing, Craig has a special focus on development viability appraisals and finance arrangements. He also forges strategic relationships with land agents, national house builders and developers to promote Rentplus and identify opportunities.
Upon confirmation of a successful bid, Craig liaises with the Rentplus legal and professional team to agree specifications, delivery and contracts. He then oversees the programme and cash flow forecasts.
Craig says: “I have seen the business evolve rapidly and enjoy working to achieve the best outcomes and manage the aspirations of all involved. I was most proud when Rentplus was adopted by the first local authority, Plymouth City Council, in 2013 and subsequent signing a memorandum of understanding for 500 Rentplus homes in the city.”
He predicts that future governments will encourage institutional ethical investors into the housing market to provide for those cut off from affordable, decent housing by rising rent prices, and increased mortgage regulation and deposits.
Three words to describe Craig: Ambitious, motivated and adaptable
Craig is undertaking his Assessment of Professional Competence in Planning and Development for professional membership of RICS. He was born in Cape Town and spent extensive periods in Zimbabwe, Swaziland and Botswana.
