Just as Rentplus offers sustainable, long-term affordable housing options to our partner housing associations and tenants, it also seeks sustainable, long-term relationships with ambitious partners who have integrity, social responsibility and innovation as their watchwords.
And partnership working underpins everything we do.
We are based in the South West and have already forged relations with local authorities and most of the region’s housing associations. A key founding partner organisation was Tamar Housing Society working with Plymouth City Council, with whom we are managing our pilot scheme, at Mannamead. Here, 44 per cent of the former council site will be Rentplus homes – built to a high quality, contemporary, energy efficient design.
We continue to secure sites and procure Section 106 opportunities with house builders and smaller developers through joint venture and build contracts.
An approved plan to extend our operating footprint across the south and into East Anglia and the Midlands will be followed by a national roll out. To achieve this, we need the support of excellent people and organisations who share our vision of creating an environment where families can thrive via a step change in the delivery of attainable, high quality housing.
While the Rentplus route is a socially progressive exercise, it does not draw upon public grant.
As the enterprise is one of long-term social improvement all partners can be assured of continuing working relationships. By helping tenants to take manageable steps towards full home ownership, we will make better personal and family outcomes, boost and perpetuate employment and create balanced, thriving communities - all the while taking the pressure off social housing stock nationwide.
Rentplus properties are allocated to people and families on council housing lists who wish to become home owners. They are also usually available through choice based lettings and Help to Buy agents.
